When you first discover Baked by Us, you might just see a busy little cupcake shop.
But we're so much more than cupcakes.

Everything we do at Baked by Us is built around the participants who work here. From baking and decorating to fulfilling orders and greeting customers, every day ends with completed work, a tidy kitchen, and a genuine sense of achievement. The delicious treats that sell out most days? A very happy bonus.

Baked by Us was founded by Jess, a proud Autistic woman who spent most of her working life in places that weren't designed to accommodate her. The expectations, the systems, and the unspoken rules were all designed with neurotypical people in mind. The challenges that came with being Autistic in those spaces were largely invisible to everyone but her.
In 2019, Jess turned that experience into something remarkable. Baked by Us was built from the ground up, not just to accommodate people with disability, but to celebrate everything they bring.

We've shaped the way we work around our team, not the other way around. Some practical examples of how that looks day to day:
Visual labels and cues
Picture-based labels are used throughout our kitchen and shop to help every team member move through the day with confidence and independence.Serving customers
Our till uses a visual interface so every team member can serve customers independently. Customer service skills are something we actively practise and build on together every day.Individual support
Every participant gets the time and support they need, guided gently through their day at a pace that works for them.
